It is our ambition to ensure a sustainable development of Westfälische Kunststoff-technik. In doing so we focus on the efficiency of our business activities, simultaneously considering and enhancing the social and ecological impact of our value-added processes.

It is our first and foremost responsibility to satisfy the needs of the present generation and to make sure that future generations will have the same chances to realize their goals and satisfy their needs. We, therefore, strive to continuously optimize the use of resources and take responsibility towards our stakeholders.

Resource cycles as a key to ecological sustainability

Closing cycles is the key approach to achieve an ecologically sustainable value added. This is the only way of using resources again thus enhancing energy and resource efficiency. The graphic shows how Westfälische Kunststofftechnik and the whole industry support the closing of resource cycles. Reusable packaging materials are used, plastics are processed and re-granulated. After production plastic tubes have a lifecycle of up to 100 years; this adds even more value to closed resource cycles.

Waste reduction through recycling

Thermoplastic plastic materials can be processed and used several times without any loss in quality. Our production incorporates state-of-the-art processes designed to keep reject rates at an extremely low level. After use, our tube materials made of PE and PVC can be fully recycled and re-used in a way that makes sense. We would like to encourage you to use standard collection systems when returning goods.

Use of production heat

In our plastic tube production heat energy emitted by extruders is “preserved” by way of a special water cycle and used to heat the water needed for our heating system. Pipes are used to transport it to our minimum temperature heating system providing heat for our administrative and production department in a highly efficient way.

Environmentally compatible waste combustion

Hydrogen chloride resulting from the combustion of PVC is filtered out by modern flue gas cleaning systems used in refuse incinerators. Tests have shown that dioxins / furans are emitted irrespective of a PVC combustion.

Low processing temperatures

PVC is made of petroleum (43%) and local rock salts. PVC is produced at low temperatures ranging from 40 °C to 80 °C. When using extruders the processing temperature is 200 °C – other materials need much higher temperatures.

Energy management system

Both the use and handling of our energy resources is of great importance to Westfälische Kunststofftechnik. Therefore, an energy management system was already introduced in 2014. This systematic approach is intended to continuously and sustainably reduce the use of energy and the CO2 emissions involved.

Our energy management system certified according to DIN ISO 50001 covers all parts of the company and all energy sources. If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact our energy commissioner.
